Abstract
The purpose of this research is to confirm a mediating effect of interpretation bias of positive social events in the relationship between internalized shame and social anxiety. This thesis starts on the assumption in research that internalized shame shows two different bias when the one takes a positive evaluation: accepting the evaluation as a favor or suspicious about other¡¯s authenticity. In order to get a result, I did a survey targeting 160 adults of men and women living in Seoul, in terms of Liebowiz Social Anxiety Scale(LSAS), Disqualification of Positive Outcomes Scale(DPSOS), Discounting of Positive Event Scale(DPES) and Internalized Shame Scale(ISS). Through the collected data, this thesis analyzes the correlation analysis of each measurement variable and a mediating effect of interpretation bias of positive social events in the relationship between internalized shame and social anxiety. As a result, in th relationship between internalized shame and social anxiety, a mediating effect of the interpretation bias of doubting the authenticity of the positive evaluation not significantly predicted the severity; but a mediating effect of the interpretation bias that others favorably evaluated oneself significantly predicted the severity. Finally the implication and limitation about this research are discussed.
